PROJECT MANAGER JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA) has recently completed a series of major planning efforts and is seeking a motivated team member to help implement new community development initiatives. Over a year ago, the CRA concluded a strategic planning process that generated a series of new redevelopment activities to be undertaken for the City of Cambridge. The 2014 Strategic Plan also created a new mission for the organization:
The Cambridge Redevelopment Authority is committed to implementing imaginative, creative development that achieves social equity and environmental sustainability. Our goal is to work in the public interest to facilitate infrastructure investments and development projects that integrate commercial, housing, civic and open space uses. We are a public real estate entity with a unique set of redevelopment tools, working in close partnership with the City of Cambridge and other organizations.
Building off this effort, in 2015, the CRA launched the Foundry Redevelopment Demonstration Project, amended the Kendall Square Urban Renewal Plan, piloted a community micro-grant program, initiated multiple park improvement projects, and has begun planning efforts for other initiatives. The Project Manager will assist in the planning and execution of these redevelopment programs and other duties as required, including but not limited to:
- Managing initiatives to redevelop under-utilized properties,
- Designing economic development programs for community entrepreneurship opportunities,
- Assisting with environmental and urban design review of redevelopment proposals,
- Planning new neighborhood redevelopment strategies consistent with the Strategic Plan,
- Conducting outreach to diverse stakeholder groups and strategic partners, and
- Developing communication materials geared toward a variety of audiences.
This is a full time position with benefit for a 37.5-hour / week. The Project Manager reports to the Executive Director.
Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate at least two to four years experience in community development programs, real estate development, or city planning. An advanced degree in Public Policy, City Planning, Real Estate or related field may substitute for one year of experience. An understanding of community development, real estate finance principles, urban design, sustainability and land use planning is required. The Project Manager must be able to work well independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
The CRA is seeking candidates with strong initiative and creative problem solving skills. Candidates should demonstrate professional experience working with diverse community groups in planning processes and/or development projects. Candidates must present excellent writing and public speaking abilities. Comfort with data analysis, GIS and graphic design are highly desirable skills.
Work Environment: Work involved is both indoors in a professional office setting and outdoors at project sites. The position requires attendance and participation at regular evening meetings. Travel to local meetings and project sites is required. Accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Salary: Salary range starting at $60,000, final compensation dependent on skills and experience.
