Parks & Trails New York seeking volunteers for the finish line of the Cycling the Erie Canal event

Parks & Trails New York’s week-long Cycling the Erie Canal event finishes in Albany on Sunday July 16, 2017 between 9:00 am – 1:30 pm at the  Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center at Quackenbush Square, Downtown Albany.

During this event more than 600 riders and volunteers, many from out of NY, will descend upon Albany, weary but proud of their cycling accomplishment. PTNY is seeking volunteers and ambassadors to welcome cyclists and help create a fun atmosphere.

 

Positions Available:

Bike Parking Assistant (NEED 3): Assist riders in parking bikes in bike corral; monitor corral; allow entry only to those with wristband.

Shuttle Registration Assistant: (NEED 2): Assist PTNY staff with shuttle registration, handing out shuttle tickets, and directing riders to bike loading and shuttle luggage staging areas.

Information Table Assistant (NEED 2): Assist PTNY staff in distributing general information – including directions for shuttle, bike shipping, shower and train station locations, and other services.

Route Assistants (NEED 5): Direct riders at pedestrian bridge and/or other nearby locations to finish line location; assist riders in descending stairs on pedestrian bridge, carrying bikes if necessary; could use both volunteers on foot and some on bike.

Parking Lot Assistant (NEED 3): Assist PTNY in managing traffic flow through parking area at rear of Visitor’s Center; may also be used to direct cyclists to shuttle luggage area.

Welcome/Cheer Section (NEED 5): Welcome and cheer cyclists and they approach finish line at Albany Visitor Center at Quackenbush Square.

Floater (NEED 5): Various tasks as needed in coordination with PTNY staff.

Spectators: Bring your friends and join in on the Downtown festivities… meet cyclists from all over the country, cheer on the riders, and grab a bite to eat!
