Citizen Scientists Sought for Sampling

Rensselaer Land Trust’s STREAM TEAM is seeking volunteers to help answer the question: will wading in the streams of Rensselaer County might make you sick?

A free sampling program training session will be held on Saturday, April 1st from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. at The Sanctuary for Independent Media, 3361 6th Avenue in North Troy. Registration is not required.

Citizen Science Volunteers are needed to sample study sites along the Wynants Kill, Poesten Kill, Mill Creek, Quackenderry, Quacken Kill and Moordener Kill.  The stream study sites are located throughout Rensselaer County in Troy, Rensselaer, North Greenbush, East Greenbush, Grafton, Schodack and Castleton-on-Hudson.

Volunteer time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours per month during May through October.
