Duties include the following in addition to other projects as assigned:
Create and recommend leading edge planning and zoning policies which support our overall vision. Advise the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Historic Preservation and Architectural Review Board on state mandated standards, local zoning codes and the City’s economic development vision. The Senior Planner will work with the public to complete planning and zoning board applications, document site conditions and review submitted drawings. The role requires preparing materials, recording minutes, filing resolutions and communicating/ publishing information as well as ensuring proper review for SEQR and County review under General Municipal Law.
The Senior Planner will also take the lead in developing datasets, mapping, and conducting analysis. Duties to include 1) assessing city demographics using surveys or based on existing information (US Census Bureau and American Factfinder); 2) compiling datasets for transportation, water quality, storm water conveyance, etc.; 3) generating studies; and 4) conducting field evaluations.
The Senior Planner will with Community and Economic Development staff, attend and host public meetings periodically to present proposed development, obtain feedback, and market projects as well as develop written marketing materials for the same purpose.
